Amchur, amchoor, or simply mango powder is a spice powder made from dried green mangoes. Mango powder adds sourness and citrus flavor to recipes, much like vinegar or lemon but without the added moisture. It is often used in stir fry dishes, soups, curries, and as a meat tenderizer.
Amchur is a principal seasoning in north Indian cuisine, including Chana Masala. It is prized for its uniquely fruity, sour, and citrusy flavor. North Indian chefs flavor samosa and pakora fillings, stews and soups, curries, and more with amchur powder. It is even added to some Indian pastries and fruit salads.
Cooking with amchur powder also adds the same superfood benefits as cooking with mango. It is especially useful to have the powder on hand when fresh mango is out of season. Just like mango, amchur powder is a great source of probiotic fiber, copper, potassium, magnesium, and many vitamins.

Good in smoothies, good in curry
Green mango powder (amchur) is supposed to be a very healthful food. I bought it to put in smoothies but I discovered that it does amazing things for curry also!

Amchur Powder
I am not an Amchur Powder expert but this seems like a good product. Adds a lot of character to curry dishes. Tastes like powdered mangoes on it’s own, as you’d probably expect. There were small clumps but they break apart just fine.
