Spice Specialist Curry Leaves are freshly dried and replenished regularly before shipment in order to avoid the loss of flavor and aroma that are typical of many dried curry leaves.
Curry Leaves are an herb native to Southeast Asian and are used to flavor various dishes. They are most commonly used as an ingredient in rice, chutneys, stews, and–of course–curries.
Though curry leaves and curry powder share a common name, they are actually completely different ingredients. Curry powder cannot be used as a substitute for curry leaves. In fact, due to the complex flavor and aroma there is no perfect substitute for curry leaves at all. If you must use a substitute, a combination of bay leaves and lime peel or zest may give your recipe a nice kick, but it will not have the same culinary effects as curry leaves.
Alternate names include “Dried Curry Leaves”, “Murraya koenigii” or “Bergera koenigii.”
