Valrhona Cocoa Powder is a premium, unsweetened cocoa powder. The fat content is 21%, nearly double that of regular cocoa. It is made in France by Valrhona, the premium chocolate manufacturer.
Valrhona chocolate is routinely used in fine restaurants and bakeries. It is prized for its intense, pure chocolate flavor that is well suited to both sweet and savory dishes.
Valrhona Cocoa Powder is perfect for making truffles, chocolate mousse, and other chocolate confections. It is also versatile enough to add rich flavor to sauces, stews, and chili. Try experimenting with some in your next barbeque recipe– you won’t be disappointed!
Valrhona Cocoa Powder is a Dutch process cocoa powder. The Dutch process lowers the acidity of the cocoa and enhances the chocolate flavor and smoothness tremendously.
Valrhona cocoa also makes an excellent sipping chocolate, especially on cold winter nights. Just add your desired amount of hot milk and sugar to enjoy it as a hot chocolate beverage.
Note that Dutch cocoa powder cannot always be used as a substitute for natural cocoa powder. Dutch process cocoa lacks the acids needed to leaven baked goods. When baking with Valrhona cocoa powder, we recommend that it be used with baking powder instead of baking soda. If used with baking soda, the lack of acids in Dutch process cocoa powder may prevent your baked goods from rising. For best results, be sure to use the same type of cocoa powder your recipe calls for.
