Kala namak, also know as Himalayan black salt or Black Indian Salt is a type of rock salt used in extensively in South Asia. It is also known as “Bire noon” which is literally “black salt” in Nepalese.
Kala namak is salty and pungent-smelling. It is a popular condiment in Bangladeshi, Nepali, Indian and Pakistani cuisines. Black salt is often used in sauces, salads, and many savory Indian snacks. It is also sprinkled on various kinds of fruits as a flavoring.
