Star Anise Pods are one of the most recognizable spices in the world. As the name implies, Star Anise Pods are shaped like stars, with an average of eight points.
Star Anise is widely used in Chinese, Indian, Malay, and Indonesian cuisine. The pods are a key ingredient in Chinese five-spice powder as well as a major component of garam masala.
In the West, Star Anise Pods are often used as a substitute for anise. Despite the close resemblance in flavor, Star Anise Pods have a much stronger, hotter, and more bitter taste than European anise.
Anise Stars make a good substitute for anise because they both contain anethole. Anethole is what gives European anise its characteristic flavor.
We also offer Ground Star Anise

Thank You
I moved to a small town and can no longer get these near my home. I’m thrilled to find such quality stars online at such a good price. I’m ordering all my hard to get spices from here from now on.

Star Anise Pods
This was an amazing buy. Fragrant, fresh, and fully intact. For the relatively inexpensive price I thought I was taking a gamble and there would surely be some broken pieces, but these babies came to me whole and looking beautiful and smelling great. Maybe I got lucky! Exceeded my expectations, 5 stars.
