Chile de Arbol (literally “tree chili” in Mexican) is a small yet potent Mexican chili pepper. The chile de arbol pepper is also known as bird’s beak chile and rat’s tail chile due to its small and slender shape.
Arbol chile peppers are famous for their bold heat, sublte smoky flavor, and vibrant red color. Whole dried chile de arbol peppers can be used as a substitute for cayenne peppers in any recipe. They are a star ingredient in chile de arbol salsa.
